WEATHER & GEAR
THE WEATHERFrom mid September to mid June the weather is superb for walking. Summer may get too hot.Autumn (mid September - mid November) and Spring (April-middle of June) temperatures are ideal for walking, ranging from 18-25 degrees Celsius. Winter (mid November through March) is still very good for walking. Temperatures vary in between 10 to 18 degrees Celsius. Higher up in the mountains it can be chilly, even cold when a hard wind is blowing, so a fleece and windcheater or raincoat is recommended for that period. Summer (July to mid September) can get hot, around 30 degrees Celsius, so if you plan to walk then, we advice you to start early morning. Rain falls any time between the end of September and the start of June, but it is impossible to say when. If it rains, then it mostly comes down in torrential showers, so we recommend bringing a light raincoat. It seldom happens the rain pours down for days in a row.
THE GEARAlways: backpack, sufficient water and food, compass or GPS, good walking shoes or boots.Winter: fleece, windcheater or rain coat. Autumn and Spring: light rain coat. Advisable: sun cream, anti-mosquito spray/stick/lotion, long trousers (because of spiky gorse or thistles), tweezers and a hat or cap. Finally it is recommendable to carry a mobile phone with you to enable you to call for support if needed.
